One For All Review
Hello all! This is my first post and review on my blog! I recently finished One For All by Lillie Lainoff and I thought of posting a detailed review here.
First of all: Thank you NetGalley for the ARC! Second point: As this book hasn't released yet and this post is a detailed review there are spoilers ahead so, read at your own risk even though I will be giving a warning before a spoiler.
This book had a lot of pre-release hype but the reason I requested this book was because I heard it had disability rep and found family not to mention the stunning cover.😉 In this book you can expect feminism, female musketeers, found family, female friendships and heart warming relationships as well as a moving father-daughter relationship. One thing I loved most was how we came to know about the MC's father before he died rather than memories being replayed by the MC because I find that to be annoying. The whole book was basically Tania (the MC) finding the killer of her loving, dear and kind father but along with that it was also about accepting yourself, loving yourself and finding those who love you no matter what and holding onto them. The friendships were very pleasing and cute! I loved reading about Tania's friends though it was hard at first to remember who is who. A thing to appreciate about certain books is their solid beginning and this book did not disappoint in that matter.
While it was hard to remember the targets' names, I slowly got used to it and was thrilled by the danger and adventure the musketeers' work provided. The plot of the book was simple but there was so much more in it than just feminism there was a lot of danger and action that I was never bored. This is a type of book that would have kept me up all night had I not had school.😩
I absolutely adored Henri and kind of wanted more of him in the book but alas it wasn't possible. The author did say we might get a sequel so fingers crossed it's going to be more Henri focused.😇
The author having Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) wrote Tania as having it too to make people aware of what disabled people go through and what others can do to help them. I believe disabled people should be encouraged to do whatever they want but unfortunately, they aren't able to do so because of society's criticism and bullying. So it's up to people like us to support them and stand up for their rights because they have the same rights as any other person.💖 While I aren't disabled I was able to relate and understand the MC because that is just the author's magic with her writing style.
Spoiler: I really wanna talk about Étienne. The plot twist was a bit expected but still a shock when my suspicions were proved true. A lot of authors nowadays would have made Tania end up with Étienne and excuse it all as him having a 'troubled past' but I was so glad when she didn't because he was so toxic and a murderer so yeah thank you for that, Lillie!
I loved the ending, of course I wanted more. I really love stand-alones more than series but this book makes that an exception. After reading my rant you would have figured out that this book deserves all the stars of the world, is my fave read of 2021 and Lillie Lainoff is my auto-buy author. I am undoubtedly going to be rereading this book very soon.😂 That's all for now, thanks for reading!💖
